85 BCD SR cranks and chainrings?

I came across this ebay listing for an 85 BCD SR chainring. the seller made the following disclaimer:

"SR Sakae 32 Tooth Chainring For Triple Cranks 85 BCD 85 BCD 85 BCD NOT 86BCD NOT 86BCD

THIS IS FOR THE RARE 85BCD NOT 86BCD, THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!

85Bcd WE WILL NOT TAKE THIS BACK IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU NEED"
ebay
So I'm wondering what crankset does this go with? Anyone know?

Might I refer to the original quote:

"SR Sakae 32 Tooth Chainring For Triple Cranks 85 BCD 85 BCD 85 BCD NOT 86BCD NOT 86BCD

THIS IS FOR THE RARE 85BCD NOT 86BCD, THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!

And thus the query.

The measurement's not correct. It's most likely a 86 bcd chainring. No company I know of made 85 bcd stuff. At least not 5 bolt stuff. You can look up SR/Sakae on Velobase to see if it is listed there. Also look up SR/Sakae chainrings on the Bay. There should be plenty of 86 bcd ones there. I could be wrong, though. It could be Suntour Microdrive. Check Velobase. I checked, not Microdrive. The Takagi triple I have takes an 86 bcd granny. I would pass on it since the listing says it won't fit an 86.

Did you got to that Sheldon Brown link above? He certainly lists an 85bcd ring. I suppose he could be wrong:

I looked at it. That's why I said I could be wrong. I've never seen one though. The Shimano FC-6206 that was part of the 6200/Deerhead/Deore group is a 110/74. The Takagi triples I have are either 110/74 or 130/86. I will search and try to find an 85.

Here it is. I stand corrected.

velobase link isn't working for me, but that's the crankset that i have.
i just checked my first gen "old Deore" triple crank with a caliper. [edit base on John's post below], the adjacent bolt hole center to center looks like it very well could be 49.7mm.
regardless, it is definitely not 50.5mm, as that is noticeably not centered.
i'll also say that there is no way i would pay that much for a chainring, sheesh.

For doubting St. Sheldon, do three recitations of The Rules and check the tire pressure on all your bikes.

Sutherland's lists it as an 84.5mm bolt circle:

I'm still wondering about why SR would make a rings for such a limited number of cranks made by Shimano and Takagi.

I'd assume the reasoning is something like "the
customer knows what the customer wants, and the customer pays for it."
