Cleaned up my 472 Follis
I picked this baby up in Phoenix about 3 weeks ago and just finished getting it back into riding shape. New cables, tires (Veloflex Master 28’s), tape and saddle, thorough clean and polish and she’s ready to hit the road again. I sold my 172 which was in nice shape but too big for me when I found this one, I love these bikes !

Quality old school frameset with quality new school supple 28s make for a cloud-like ride. With the cockpit and feet made comfortable, it becomes blissful on a nice day.

It also came with the original tubular wheelset so that is a possibility.

60 years old still recovering from multiple broken ribs due to a free wheel failure, residual issues from multiple other past injuries including a parachute malfunction. I’m lucky I’m riding a bike at all so the answer would be....no.

Gorgeous bike. Two questions, though: how do you tell one model from another, and what's with the terminal 72? I know there were 072, 172, 472, 572, and 672 -- were there 272 and 372? OK that's 3 questions.

172 was the first level generally accepted as a “serious” road bike, came equipped with internal cable routing on the top tube (also in the 072) chrome fork and chain stays, Suntour DL’s, Mafac brakes and Nervar crank and was the cheapest model to include tubular wheelset.
For some reason there was not a 272 or 372, the 472 was identified by its Campy DL’s, external cable routing with tube clips,(same for 572,672) Mafac Competition brakes and more ornate lugging. 572 was full Campy DL, brakes, crank and the 672 were custom orders that could have been anything the customer wanted.
However take what I’m saying with a grain of salt as I’ve seen features on some models that should not have been there so ????
CORRECTION... 072 and 172 used braze ons for top tube cable, not internal !!
They are highly overrated junk bikes that you should pass on after letting me know where you found one. (Especially a 572)😄
