DD60 Headshok Bottom Steerer Plug
I'm overhauling a 1997 Cannondale Headshok fork and in need of this part. The original is deformed and can't be trusted. The plug gets pushed into the bottom of the steerer tube and then a circlip is installed in a provided groove to prevent it from being pushed back out under the forces applied during fork compression. The plug serves as both a dust seal and more importantly as a bottom-out to resist the downward forces of the spring/MCU assembly during fork compression. A plug and new circlip would be ideal but I'm thinking that the clip may be a standard hardware item or that the old one would suffice. If anybody has one to sell or can provide leads for potential sources, that would be greatly appreciated. I did a pretty exhaustive search of the web and the only one that I've seen is being sold on ebayuk as part of a spring kit.
I realize these types of inquiries usually get a lot of "replace the fork" or "don't attempt the overhaul yourself" replies, but the bike is pristine other than the fork internals so I want to rebuild the Headshok rather than replace, and I've already disassembled it. Thanks. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b6d1810c9a.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cb95e2c8ce.jpg |
