Back from powder coater

Just got my Serotta back from the powder coater and I’m extremely happy. I initially started this project to flip, once I built it up I’ve decided to keep it. I need to change the bars and stem then order better tires.

Wow. They did a great job. It looks amazing.

I can see why it is a keeper now. Very nice! And a good powder coater knows how to not lose all of the details. Those lugs still "pop" quite nicely.

Thanks for sharing it. Others might want to know of a good source for work such as that. You might consider sharing details.

It’s beautiful. Maybe it time I seriously consider refinishing one of my Proto frames

I've never had a Serotta, but I did have the hat in that ad as a kid.

Very nice. Is that Prismatic powder, what color, and is it one or two stage?

Not sure what he used, I picked out a shade of red I liked. It’s single stage, blasted and painted for $80. I think he did a fantastic job. He makes his money on wheels and just hangs the frames with the wheels.

It looks very nice. Can you share how to do the decals when powder coating. Did you apply them after getting the frame back and did you apply any clear over them? Are some types of decals durable enough not to need clear over them. I know some bikes came from the factory with clear over the decals (my Miyata, Schwinn Voyageur), and some didn't (Trek). What if you were just applying decals to replace missing or damaged decals over original paint? Is there a specific type of decal to look for that doesn't need clear coating or would you mask around the decal and apply clear just over the decal? Thanks.

One of the highlights of my childhood: I won a hat like that in a drawing in third grade - maybe a firefighter came in and gave a prevention talk and gave away a couple of hats. It was really fun at the time!
