Cottered cartridge BB again on ebay

I got one of these and didn't use the plastic press-in cups, I used a set of alloy cups from another BB and it worked out a treat. I measured a lot of cups from the BBs in the bins, they all were the same ID, the trouble is finding an adjustable that's not part of the shell.

Anyway, when I bought it the price and shipping were low, and a bit after that when I was thinking about another I looked and both were about double; and then there were not any at all. Just checked again and the unit is $17 and international shipping is $14.90; the seller has two left - I bought another one.

"sunrace cottered" should bring it up.

EDIT! - I just refreshed the page and the prices changed! Now 21.19 and 20.70. Is there a pricing bot watching...must...delete...cookies.....
OK, cookies gone, something odd happened, but now it shows $17 again. Unfortunately shipping is now 39.90 to the US; to me was 14.90 again - which is a complete reversal of the normal order of rates, go figure.

Here's what it looks like in an Italian shell; I put the crank on to see and there were no clearance issues, the axle is 136mm:

I never would have dreamed that these exist.

+ 1. I like it though. Now I just need to buy a bike that needs one of these, right?

Slightly OT but oneclick : that frame looks like it was painted in Ducait Mike Hailwood replica colours: a lot of people don't realize the colours were originally based on the Castrol oil colours as Castrol was a main sponsor of Mike; since then those colours are almost synonymous with Italy.

The white balance is a little off in the photos, but yes, flag colours are what I usually choose when I decide that I get to decide.

Something new every day...

Only in 136mm though. I'm not sure that's going to work out on a double with a 120mm rear spaceing.

Is that a solution looking for a problem? I’ve got a drawer full of cup and cone cottered BB units, including several with Raleigh 26tpi threading.

I think so, in a northern-european way. The seller (customjunkies) is in Germany, they have a website which also lists this unit:

"Sunrace make a range of cartridge bottom brackets which fit unusual frames and allow use of cottered cranks with a cartridge bottom bracket. A good option for replacing the bottom bracket on bikes which otherwise would become unusable."

I started looking around and another outfit (dutchbikebits) sells this, from them it's also available with BSA threaded cups (plastic) at about 12 euros and ~25 euros shipping.
