This is the story of one of my family, to be able to travel by pedal or wind.To be self reliant , whether mending your sails, truing your wheels, replacing a stopcock or bent derailleur. I spit on the internal combustion engine. Of course there's always room for steam!! Many thanks to all of you...Now to the idiot bit! When I got the Lotus it came with a nice Campagnolo front wheel that I'm having a terrible time with!@! Please help before I bugger it up https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5eb2b23f7a.jpg |

SurferRosa - Ah, if it is fantasy, then I am finally on the same page. Not only on the same page but agree.
I do not have to have an exotic this or that to ride, these days. One bike that did nothing to blow my kilt up was this old Raleigh Tourist step through. Bought it for $30.00 CND, serviced it a wee bit (pumped up the tires) and rode it around for a couple of days just for you know what and giggles. What I did not realize, until it was too late, is that I really liked the ride quality. I can remember thinking freight train. Slow out of the gate but once rolling it was just great and seemed to pull itself along. Wish I had not sold it and, for what it is worth, now past my Biblical expiry date, the step through design holds even more appeal... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9b7e5db300.jpg |

But I wasn't, I was knackered and on auto pilot so I'm keeping "Brittany "I've got a new work horse. One that I can lock up at the worksite and not worry all day about it being knicked. Did I just curse myself!! |
Can't leave it alone

^ I agree with this. SunTour BL is a very nicely functioning derailleur. The split cage is useful for wheel changes, but I can't tell from the OP's photo if the cage is a bit bent. It's not difficult to remove and straighten, though.
Scored a nice rim now let's see if I can make it all work. Off to get cable |

Why would you quote me without clearing up whether the BL derailleur has a bent cage?

your life you like it well but surely your time will come as in heaven, as in hell I spent a couple of weeks in London every year from 2007-15 for work. Had my share of pints, too. |

Farewell Free Spirit
Was made an offer I couldn't refuse , basically sold itself and now I have an iBoc Mongoose to rebuild and a Schwinn frame that looks good for a Gravel ride.
I did learn not to assume that everybody's idea of crap is the same I bet that FreeSpirit is going strong 25 years from now |
