Klein MTB looking for information!!

Hello All,

I find this in a local bike shop. I really liked it but it doesn't say the model of the bike. I couldn't find any Klein Bike in the same color or type I am thinking it may be modified. Can anyone help me to identify this beauty.

Ps: I tried to upload photo but the system didn't let me do it. I am not sure How I can add photos. I also appreciate help on that.

Thank you in advance
Ozzy

If you place the pic in your Album here, someone will be able to fish it out and post it in this thread for you. Members with less than 10 posts aren't allowed to post images as a prudent anti-spam measure.

Link to OP's photos but they are all non-drive side, so I can't do a direct photo assist without suffering the slings and arrows of the membership at large

Definitely a more desirable pre-Trek Klein. My guess based on logo and placement would be 92-93.

Image searching didn't turn up much for black to silver fade, but this catalog hints that customization was available.

Thank you for finding them. I couldn't take drive side photos in the shop but I will have better photos this coming Wednesday.

Thanks, That was also my issue I didn't able to find silver to black color in any where online. It is probably customized. Also I think the bar is not stock neither. I will try to put more photos after I got the bike at Wednesday.

My guess is pinnacle that was repainted. Seems like a fair amount of time/money was spent putting all the Machine Tech parts on there.

Probably wrong about the paint, the front to back fade just appears way more often. An older frame with that paint just looks off for some reason.

Machine Tech or Ringle?

I'd guess that it was custom built and never ridden. Maybe a bike shop display bike that never attracted any interest? Definitely a time capsule in any case.

I agree with wesmamyke, The seat post clamp and the head tube make me think that it is a Pinnacle. As clean as it is, I believe that it was either repainted or seldom/never ridden. I bought a Pinnacle Elite new in 1987, custom colors were available. Looks like a sweet bike!.

I was assuming Machine Tech hubs because the brakes certainly are, and the hubs match the color. Ringle blue I've seen was always a little more turqoise or light blue.

They are Machine Tech and according to the dealer this was previous owner's second bike so has really low milage on it.

I couldn't see a model name at all and also my understanding there are some upgrades on it such as beaks, hubs, handlebars, etc.

They definitely were machine tech. I will have more photos tomorrow after I picked the bike up

Would you be willing to share what you end up paying for the Klein?

Klein called paint jobs where the colors followed the tubes "linear fades."

Not a problem I will after finalizing the deal. But I wonder what does everyone think the value of that bike is. As I said before I will have more picture tomorrow. I can share them too if it will help. Also It may help to identify the bike better.

Not sure the blue-book value but, based on the pics you have and assuming there's nothing significantly wrong with the bike, I could see it fetching $800-$1K CAD.

With lots of bargaining, I end up paying 550$ plus tax for the Klein which includes tune-up. But I will need to get some lights and a better pair of pedals. That will probably add another 100 or more.

I will try to send more pictures tomorrow since it was already dark when I bring it home.

According to seller this is a custom paint which is done in here at Seattle work shop of Dr Klein. I cannot confirm the source since the seller was not the the previous owner. I will put more detailed pics tomorrow.

Beautiful Klein! And at an excellent price. (I happen to own a 1988 Pinnacle).

I don't believe it is a Pinnacle, though, as I have never seen a Pinnacle with horizontal, rear facing dropouts. But who knows.🤷🏽‍♂️

Post some pics of the Serial number--it should be stamped on the underside of the rear dropouts.

Be sure post a ride report!
