I ordered them on the website, after consulting with them about colour choices. I didn't see my colour scheme offered in the online shop but they were happy to create this order to my specifications.

As soon as you are on their page they give you the 'color reference' and 'material options' menu.
From there on you can get in touch and they should attend to your every fancy. Good luck. |

The stonework is possibly medieval, certainly pre-rococo, in the traditional rural mediterranean style. It was a small stable, then a ruin, and is now our little workshop/playroom. The main house dates from the Spanish Arabic era, so earlier than 1228 for our area. Here it is thirteen years ago, as a ruin. Foreground center-right by the doorway is my frame painting zone: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f0d36e80b.jpeg |

That was a short two weeks.
Now for the RAL 3004 in spraycan format. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...75b0fbaab.jpeg Two coverings with primer and some gentle 800 grit wet sanding to get rid of some surface particles. Dust coats and two wet coats later.. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...bf1fec327.jpeg First coats are very light https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f546b7a67.jpeg I like the wet coats; You really have to move with the can and it needs mega control because once that button is pressed the mission is to cover the whole frame in a consistent wet coat. It is a knife's edge between orange peel and drips & sags. ..followed by a light blast with the airbrush for that glitter effect. |

The rear dropouts on these frames are fantastic! Easily in the top ten of my list of early 90’s favorite bike bits!

I got that when I painted my Fuji, but after applying the clear coat, it really popped!

I have wet-sanded the first coat of clear with 1500, 4000 and then 8000 grit to get rid of some texture before the decals and further clear coats go on.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0f759f236.jpeg Couldn't resist trying the head tube 'S'. These Velocals' 2 mil' thick stickers go down really well if the instructions are precisely followed. The border should almost disappear under further coats of clear. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a60ccec2a.jpeg As it was https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...881913d0e.jpeg |

As always, this forum provides plenty of inspiration for a beginner.

After having finished this little beauty, I have been reticent in taking it out as the paint is too good.
so I put it up for sale instead and turned a wee profit! On to the next.... https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...fd27c74ec.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f9a2396d6.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...febe3b4d7.jpeg |

How is the paint holding up? (6 months? 7 months? )
also - I re-re-read the thread, but missed what type of paint you use. I saw you mention you used an etching primer. I saw the RAL number and the can that says "INDUSTRIAL", but I missed what brand. Acrylic or urethane. And was the clear a urethane or an epoxy clear? - again, if I missed those details, we'll blame it on COVID brain or something. thanks. |
