Trying to Identify this Centurian

I cannot yet post a picture as I dont have enough posts.

The Bike is 55 CM Frame 27" tires and is a 10 speed. No serial number other than number 183 stamped on underside of Crank housing. It has Suntour Derailer and Dia-Comp Brakes front and rear. Seat says Selle Royal on rear and Courisle L on side. On handlebar it has SAKAE Custom Japan etched into curved handlebar.Has made in Japan sticker on it.

Looking for some help here. will post pics when I am allowed.

Welcome to forums. Based on the 1/2 chrome fork and cottless crankset, combined with the steel rims, it would appear to be Centurion LeMans. The SunTour GT rear derailleur and the SunTour rear derailleur are the earlier style, dating it to circa 1976-1977, at the latest. Statistical probability would suggest peak boom era, circa 1972-1974. Centurion were rare in Canada, compared to the USA.

Serial numbers during this era were typically stamped on the seat tube. Both top and bottom locations have been reported, as well as sides and back. Regardless it probably won't help much, as the codes for this era have yet to be decrypted.

To narrow down the dates, I'd refer to the date codes on the back of the derailleurs. They should be a two alpha characters stamped inside a circle. See attached for sample of date PG (1973 July) on the back on a SunTour GT rear derailleur.

Thanks for the reply. I did go out and check the derailer but am unable to see a circle on the derailer as you describe for the date code numbers.

Where you able to see pictures of my Bicycle? I believe I saw them in my profile on here. ( Sorry a Newbie here and not sure how the forum works )

Yes, I saw the photos, otherwise how could I add the link to them and know the versions of the derailleur models?
