I believe the RE600 is 9/10 speed. The RE500 is 8 speed https://www.modernbike.com/product-2...SABEgKf0_D_BwE

I hope i didn't give you the wrong info...?
In any event:
" I followed the recommended step of putting them in hot tap water for 5 minutes first. Then, I put them on wet. Very easy, really".

These brake hoods are so closely related , easy to get the wrong ones. 🙂
