Cool read and stunning photography. Bike looks real pretty too...just wish we knew more about it! My hunch is a modern custom frame. I can make out “Enigma” on the downtube in one of the photos. Perhaps from this company? https://www.enigmabikes.com/
I checked both his blog and his IG, no mention of the bike. But a flood of new followers commenting on his posts after reading the NYT article so perhaps he’ll do a feature on it soon enough.

I do most of my riding at dawn and at sunset - usually 10 times a week. You become very aware of where the sun rises and it is noticeable how each day is slightly different, both with flora and fauna in ways I never thought discernible. The light captured in these photos only lasts for ten to fifteen minutes and to capture it perfectly and so often with wonderful compositions is very impressive.
