Adhesive chainstay protectors
Many of the bikes I come across have great paint except on the chainstay due to chain slap. There's always those little speckles of missing paint. I've been looking for an inexpensive source for a good quality adhesive chrome or black protector that would a) look good, b) not fall off like many of the protective stickers being sold these days and c) protect it from further damage.
I feel like I peel these shredded up protectors off regularly but I can't seem to find any that aren't the zip tie attachment option, clear or some cheap sticker that peels itself off. Wondering what you folks do. |
Honestly I prefer the rat-rod look. The more chips, the better!! Just rub a little linseed oil on there and call it good.

I picked up a couple of these stainless steel chainstay protectors off of eBay last year (?) and have had one installed and in service for over a year without complaint.

I use something like this...it comes in different thicknesses....take care when applying it wrinkles easily.

Wheels manufacturing makes clear chainstay protectors that work fine and are reasonably priced. They tend to run around $8 on Amazon but you can nearly always find them closer to $6.

That looks exactly what I'm looking for. $20 is a bit rich but not too bad. If they're from the 70s I wonder how the adhesive has held up.
I would reach out to the seller, they were very open to negotiate when I wanted more. ;) |
