Wow! Impressive work! Thank you so much! I am honoured to find my frame in your database.

Wouldn´t it make sense to do this in Excel or a similar software...?

It would make a lot of sense but handwriting gives me more fun
If someone has a desire to rewrite the dossier in Excel - I encourage everyone, it will be modern.

At the express and emphatic request of EMC fans

Part 12

EMC Parts & Accessories (signed)

Period 1980 - 1987

Early lettering style - Eddy Merckx - "old" 1980-1986
Mid logo style - "EM" 1984-1987
Late lettering style - EDDY MERCKX - "NEW" 1985-1987

From 1985 - 1986 there was a "controlled mess":
first "old" was used for the new large font on frames,
and then "NEW" everywhere, even on models with the "old" font on the frame i.e. Corsa and Strada.
"EM" was placed sporadically during the same period.

STEM

"old contour" - oldest model 1980 - 1981

"old" - 1980 - 1986, used on all models
from this period

"old" - shortened version

"NEW" - 1985 - 2000

"NEW" - shortened version

"NEW" - Scottish version (if this were a postage stamp it would be worth $1M)

"EM" - next to the Cinelli designation

This is not an EMC

This is also not an EMC

The classic (and correct) combo of stem "NEW" and inscription on the frame "old" - this is a very early 1986 Corsa.

CHAINRING

"old" - beautiful early pattern

"old" - as above in close-up: lovely proportional lettering,
neat lettering and equal spacing

"old with changed y" - is OK

"old with bad letters" - I don't know if this is authentic,
but it's not as neatly done as the previous ones

"old" - tragically ugly and lame version (instead of y there is Y),
who admits it?

"NEW" - version from 1986 - 1987

combination of "old with bad letters" and "EM"

combination of "NEW" and "EM" (Cyclomondo?)

combination of "something" and "EM", rather unofficial

"old" in an unusual place - a beautiful fake, if not for the "K"

Merckx Columbus Genius 1993 - 1994

At first sight it is Titane EM,
but really it is a sensational (for me) discovery
Merckx Genius (although the photo from Alpe d'Huez 1992
is a clear misunderstanding).

...Except that it is De Rosa ! (combination of dropouts with stays, brake bridge)
Probably a prototype built for EMC.

The design is a mixture of De Rosa Primato

and De Rosa Neo-Pro

The idea was accepted and continued in Meise,
but with structural simplifications and EMC elements (lugs, brake bridge
EMC (lugs, brake bridge, dropouts)

Recently someone bought such a bike for ~$6k

TdF94, TT version, flattened Genius tubes

Hyperion titanium tubes (red bird background, black Columbus background)

Genius steel tubes (silver bird and Columbus background)
