Nishiki Sport Custom

My serial number on the bottom of the seatpost is G6901369. Does anyone know the year?

Hi there,

your serial makes not a lot of sense, bc it does not follow the serial-blocks that Nishiki used in that time.

You should have theoretically a Giant build frame (bc of the "G" in the begging) but everything als do not match up at all.

Could you make a few pictures?

Best regards,

Hi Rolley,
welcome to the forum.

The serial number on your Custom Sport is from Giant of Taiwan, as indicated by the letter G.
This serial number is a transitional format from when Giant was changing the format of serial numbers. So the format is not typical of the common formats for Giant.

The first digit 6 is for the year of frame manufacture, 1986. However, this transitional format is from late in 1986 and all of the bicycles that I have seen with this format were for 1987 model year bicycles.
