A rad local find! The color was already lively but the pink really makes it fun!

The early DB’s were certainly fine machines! Was this a bare frame build?

I didnt do any paintwork at all since the previous owner had kept it in temperature-controlled storage for years. Did remove all of the parts just to lube and do a proper clean and polish.

Yours is a 1987 model. '86 had this type treatment and I think were only offered in teal, red, and chrome. I have a red '86 but I like this yellow a lot more. It's a hefty bike, but works well as a grocery-getter.

Thanks for the info. Ive narrowed it down to 86 or 87 based on pics-to-years matches online but info out there is really inconsistent. Nothing Ive seen has it down definitively. I think the font change in Ascent and the chainstay U-brakes vs seatstay cantilevers are the defining traits but not sure which came first.

Yup definitely a 1987 Model. that font of the Ascent was only for 1987. I had one when i was growing up got it new in 1987, although mine was red, the same color as the 86 model, but 1987 graphics and components.

A few years ago i had a 1986 Ascent, still love them early DB's

+1, the moment I saw the photos and before I got to Clang and freslider's posts, I knew this was a 1987 model. The serial number should provide corroboation. It's definitely had some modifications performed on it over the years; rear derailleur, pedals, saddle, cable housing, brake cable yokes.

Yes great observation. The previous owner said they had to get a tuneup at our local bike shop so the rear derailleur probably had to get swapped then. I did the recent parts swaps to a new saddle and tires and I had some pink cables and pedals laying around as spares. Pink is my jam.
