Hello all,
I have a question! Although I've recently finished putting together my '54 Carlton Super Python and thought to ride that (since I'm just doing the short route and the gearing should be good) I am tempted to ride my '79 Mercian Campionissimo as well.
I am wondering about appropriate attire, as I have a modern synthetic jersey from Mercian (the one available on their official website) and I would like to wear that if I do go with that bike. Is that alright, or do I need to wear something more old-fashioned to fit in with the crowd? I suppose the same question applies for my uncle whom I've invited along, and who I have only purchased shoes for... Otherwise most of his apparel is modern.

Does anyone know the parking situation the day of the events? Cambria is a small town... I have hotel reservations for Saturday night, but I won't be done riding before checkout time on Sunday. They might let me park at the hotel ( cambria palms) or might not. Anyone know the parking situation. Eroica website provided nothing...

Eroica isn't a huge event in California like it is in Italy, it won't be overwhelmed by the cars we bring.
Moonstown Beach has plenty of small parking areas along it's length.
Google map Cambria, you'll see plenty of place to park, especially if you're driving in early in the morning.

My wife and I were up there recently over a weekend and the town can get a bit crowded with weekenders. With the addition of an event , it will be hard to park unless they open up alternate off street parking.

I'd like to ride on sew-ups. Is that not wise? I carry a spare, and I could strap a second spare to the handlebars if needed.

And it looks like they have at least a couple of other events going on as well, a Bee and Butterfly fest on Sun. and the Farmers market all days, add several hundred cyclists and parking likely gets very scarce.

Two of my three Heroic rides were on 25 mm tubulars without a problem. I’ll be riding clinchers this year because I’m riding my Ironman with its original wheel set. For an event like this on tubulars, I either begin the ride with Stan’s or at least have some in my saddle bag along with a tool to remove the valve core.

My question before the big ride was should I put on new sewups to give me the best chance of not flatting, or leave my worn sewups on because they were going to be trashed when I was done anyway. I went with the latter, had zero flats.

Question about old Campy one-bolt seatpost:
I have an old Campy one-bolt seatpost in which the clamp keeps sliding in the “cradle,” so the saddle tilt keeps going way nose-up after the first 30-60 min. I’m thinking of laying a couple strips og high-grit sandpaper or grip tape between the post and the clamp.
I know y’all have better ideas than this. What would you do?

Back when I had a plastic (carbon-fiber) bike, I bought a tube of 'grease' with grit, and that prevented the seatpost from slipping.
Maybe you need some of that fiber-grit stuff.

It was binding when it got tight but wouldn't tighten enough to hold the rails tight.
Now I have to be careful not to get it too tight.
