Front derailleur replacement compatability

I have a 95 Trek 820 that has a Shimano Altus C90 fixed down pull derailer. The bracket isn't properly aligned with the chain so proper H/L adjustments aren't possible. Obvious issue is you can't get that derailer anymore. I went looking for a 3x7 MB front derailer as a replacement, and am not sure how to find the offset and seat tube size. I know the seat post is 26.6mm. Though the manual claims the front derailer clamp size is 28.6mm.

I want to install a clamped replacement, but other than knowing to look for a mountain bike and dual or down pull 3x7 am completely lost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

95 Trek 820 uses a 28.6 front derailleur clamp. Shimano still makes the Altus line and should be available in 28.6. It's probably for 3x9, but will work for 3x7.
