The randonneur kit might go well with that Norco listed above.

Thoughts on value - Canadian pricing please!
I saw the below bike and don't want it. Doesn't fit, I haven't the room, and it's several hours drive or will require a relay.
But I want that front rack! I can use it for a bar bag. I have a nice set of CLB Racers that would work with it
So what is a realistic price for this bike - after I steal that rack? I know it's winter in but spring is a around the corner and this should sell though I always find older bikes with flat bars to sit for longer than drop bars and this is a mixte.

There's her twin sister listed on kijiji locally for $100, but I'd guess a springtime sale would bring $150-$200.

bazil4696 thanks - It's at $250 and I didn't see the broken front derailleur and so I'll pass. I want that front rack as it was in quite nice condition so I'll keep looking....

A bike not for riding TO the bar, but for those who brave to ride a bar itself. Fully crosswind tested and camoflaged for clandestine aperitifs.

LOL as soon as I saw that bike, the theme of the TV show M.A.S.H starting going through my mind. I like the imagination.

Hey gang, I was able to find a facilitator for this lovely Bob Jackson, does anyone have any recommendations on a bike shop in Vancouver that will pack this up competently for a decent price?
Thanks in advance

Hey Jet, jim dandy Jackson you bagged. If it were in the XL size range I would certainly have strongly considered buying. I ask how you managed to facilitate? I.e. is this person game for some West Coast benevolence?

It really helped that it wasn't my size...

Hello RG, I would take a 63 or 64 in that size so it was also out of range. It seems that BC, where Rocky Mountain Cycles came from, is a better place to find the bike I'm really looking for - an xxl size 853 tubing Sherpa 30. I liken the probability to finding a Sekine here. I just don't know anyone out on the West Coast or on the Island. The Bob Jackson would undoubtedly be a fine bike to own, or anything similar, until a Sherpa came along. I sometimes confuse Bruce Gordon and Bob Jackson.
I take it that Jackson (or similar) was a bike you'd like to own?

Also I was only part of the whole transaction as another guy is taking care of the part I don't have experience with, which is packing and shipping. It was a good experience for me as I've not done this before and the seller and the other facilitator were interesting people. Trying to figure out how to fit a medium sized frame into a small box was a mental exercise I didn't quite finish but wow those shipping prices! I might go ahead get a box and try to fit one of my frames and forks in them to see how small I can get them anyway one of these days.
Yes if that Bob Jackson had been my size I would have been all over it. I started off interested in touring bikes but I think I have come to the conclusion my family will never bike tour with me so I think sport touring bikes are more realistic now.

I'm not really familiar with Rocky Mountain, but if I see a really big one I'll let you know. Is that a relatively new model then? From what year? Usually my eye catches more on c&v types than not.

There'll be other bikes coming your way eventually. There is always another bike! Thank you for the offer to keep an eye out. It's ok though. If one never happens along, or if it does, then we'll have to wait for fate to decide. The Sherpa 30 is of interest only because it is Canadian made, uses 853 tubing, can take fatter tires and is a good overall lunchpail tourer. I've never even ridden one so it might not be suitable, but it would be nice to try to see for sure. I've dreamed of riding from here to Ottawa to visit a relative, the taking the train back home. There are many other comparable choices out there if I am never able to find a Sherpa. A Thorn Nomad would be even better! That Bob Jackson is a fine looking frame. If you're into C&V bikes, I think there are many fine older touring bikes to pick from.

gthomson Too bad its so pricy - the group set matches my Miele ATB (Shimano Exage) and it would be great to pick it up for parts. $75 would definitely be worth it.
