This is at the local Goodwill Ballard Seattle, a very interesting Campy dropouts, thin lug, touring frame, cable clamp guides Weinman brakes, Phillipe stem, TA Specialties crank, no shifters, SR post, MKS pista pedals, probably 27" original wheels. Just a fine bike of yesterday.

Not many shots but I did get the details on the seatstays. It's at $90.

That certainly is a fine bike. Did you end up getting it? If the frame is straight, it'd be a sweet deal at $90.

Everything I can see in the pics (except the rack mounts, perhaps) is consistent with MKM frames. Judging by the serial number, it was likely made somewhere around the end of 1975.

Wow, that looks just like the stem I'm trying to find replacement pinch bolt for, where it's scooped out a bit to clear the handlebars. Infuriating. I hope you have no troubles with that.

Unfortunately last week I was in purge mode. I did a big donation to the Bikery, a local coop. In the last month I've cleared 20 wheels, 6 frames, a pile of orphan tires and a box of crap. With all that gone I feel like a new vacuum!

I'm going to go see if it's still there.

That non drive side crank arm is not a TA.
MKM I think might be a good guess.

If that were listed at a pawn shop, think how Sublime the ride would be! :D

Correct, the cranks are orphaned pairing.

Edit: Actually read the first post. Ballard. With racks and room for fenders looks like a great base for a city bike. Keep us up to date on your plans and the build.

I like this find because essentially there's no "restoring". It's a cool old frame that many things can be done with. It's like a new house, someone else built it, but it is now time to remodel.

So, is that their security system? Pull a crank arm off so someone won't ride it out the door?

Or was there something wrong with that arm? Mismatch pulled from a bin?

... or worn-out mounting hole or pedals threads?

French pedal in an Asian crank arm?

Looks like pretty low trail. Have you measured the tube lengths and frame angles?

If you choose to move it along, @reluctantsuburb might be a good target, as mentioned by @shoota in Post #7.

I haven't had a chance to look at it closer yet, with the quick glance the previous owner pulled both the NDS arm and bb cup along with the bolt from DS. It could be they wanted to do drive side but were hampered by not having the TA Speciality remover, I do so that won't be an issue. The bottom bracket is a cartridge type with a splined remover needed, I'm hoping I have the correct tools for removing. I can tell already that coop is going to get another set of wheels this weekend.


The security comments reminded me of my cousin. He had a single speed track frame no brake flip-flop. Steve, he would park it unlocked set on freewheel side. One night at the bar his bike was stolen, he found it at the bottom of the hill down from tavern.
