Mrs non-fixie and I made it to the start:

Isn't it?

That was a market stall holder in Gaiole last year. They did the embroidery on the spot, and had it ready a few hours later.

Thanks for the info. Next event I get to, I’ll have to pull myself away from rummaging for to parts and listen for the sound of a sewing machine. Only problem is finding the right thing to put on the jersey.

That certainly is one challenge. The other is - when you've thought of something - dealing with three Italians telling you your text doesn't mean anything.

But if it was a transaction that you remember, you got two things with your purchase; embroidery and entertainment.

Oh, yes. They were only trying to stop me making a fool of myself. And I tried to explain that not only I am a fool, but also would like my jersey to say so.

Every time mrs non-fixie and I are in Gaiole, we tell ourselves that this will be the last time and we really need to do other things with our lives. We've done that five times now ... Good vibes are addictive, I suppose.

Mrs non-fixie and I arrived in a rainy Gaiole in Chianti today:

Even so, everyone seemed to be happy to be here. Picking up the race envelopes and goodie boxes:

We enjoyed a peposo toscano, a Tuscan beef stew, until the rain subsided:

During the afternoon the skies cleared, and we could get on with the main program: Chianti wine!

Glad the sun came out. An earlier post from another used mentioned washed out parking and issues picking up ride packets. But it looks like you overcame both. An wine to boot! In bocca al lupo!

A beautiful sunny Saturday in Gaiole, everyone was happy, incredible atmosphere.

non-fixie nice, enjoy, I was there too all day long, friends hated me stopping talking almost everywhere 😁.

Going for the 46km ride tomorrow, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

La Mythique 21 happened July 4, 2022 out of Bourg d'Oisans and rode up Alpe d'Huez. It's scheduled for July 9, 2023 for next year.

Update on L’INTREPEDIA plus Two dates confirmed for 2023…..
First dates….confirmed as I was able to speak with organizers of both at L’Inrepedia las week..
l’Ardita 12 March Arezzo
LaVignaStorica 26 March Franciacorta lavignastoricafranciacorta.com

As for L’Intrepedia,
Last Sunday, it was a warm and dry day in Anghiari. Morning fog was not as thick in the valley, so start was much warmer than in years past. 800+ riders gathered in the piazza for the mass start with singing and a send off by the town band. . Here’s a photo from the events website, photo credit is intact. I had to go with this as I had camera issues,

Food was great at all of the stops, and this time there were some roving feed cars so if you felt the need, a glass of wine è was never far away. Course was easy to follow and the post ride dinner was actually more than I could eat and I did the long route.

I can’t say enough about this ride. There are several nights of events prior to the ride ranging from school kids performing to Giro and Olympic champs speaking. Its truly a community event. Even the kids from the area show up at some of the rest stops and guided riders into the finish. The bike market stalls aren’t as numerous as those of L’Eroica, but they are easier to browse and the vendors have time to chat. That sort of relaxed feeling extends to the rest of the event and is what has me already planning on coming back next year.

So, it's either AVV or Eroica Limburg.
