"Cycling Yosemite" is included in the second post of this thread.

As usual, let me know if you'd like to see something else listed in the ToC and I'll add it in a reply to this post or send you a pdf.

Loved the articles. I've done a fair amount of cycling on the Natchez trace. There used to be (and still may be) a century run on the trace near Jackson MS. That was a fast century as its pretty flat. I did it several years running where we would do it in well under 5 hours in a group.

There is some beautiful riding in that part of the world especially in the fall when things cool down a bit.

I look at the riders who toured in street clothes and wonder, 'What happened?' Why do I think I need bike shorts? The idea of riding with seams between me and my saddle seems so outlandish to me now; I can almost feel the pain caused by the seam of, say, jeans. Is the pain real or just my imagination? I really don't want to ride with sweat-soaked cotton close to my body, but those folks did...

I tour in cargo shorts with synthetic unpadded underwear. It's not that big of a deal but I do have triple antibiotic cream in case my contact points get chaffed. I also use long or short sleeved cotton shirts and wear a brimmed hat. Kinda fun looking almost homeless.

The caption on the p. 6 photo, I suspect, wouldn't fly today.

Great time capsule, in any case. I do wonder what those guys who are pictured in the race are doing now ... And the Patrol kids, too.
