Just picked up a 60cm. Allez Pro

Found a 1993 Specialized Allez Pro. Was ridden a couple of hundred miles then put into storage.
steel frame but seems very light ! Seller lubed and replaced inner tubes and tires. Dang these sure are skinny tires. Never had a road bike before, hopefully I'll be able to do better than my 12 m.p.h. average with my co-)Op cry 1.3. Winnebago....lol

The Co Op cry 1.3 set up for all day rides..... Now refered to as the Winnebago...lol

How did you determine it was a 1993 Allez Pro? The lugwork and the geometry do not seem to match. And the components are mixed up.

A reference pic for the SS of the 1993 Allez:

Maybe some Allez experts can tell us more.

Perhaps a repaint? Hence the Mavic decals? Or else it is a model I have never seen.

Looks like it has a "Shimano's Greatest Hits collection" parts kit --- mostly 600 tri color but with a Dura Ace crank and RX or RSX rear brifter for the Lance TdF 2000 - '02 inspired mountain setup ?

These bikes are so cool -- one local to me for $300 and it is tempting. I think it is an Epic and not an allez though - not sure what the difference is

I think the Epic is the bonded CF model (similar to Trek 2500), Allez is lugged steel.

That would be my guess too, but it doesn't seem to match a model in the catalog. Or does it?

The font and placement of the "SPECIALIZED" and "ALLEZ". '93 was the first year of light frame with fastback stays, at least I think it was. For a few years the Allez was the Allez Epic with CF tubes. Seems like this was a late '80s, early '90s thing. Pretty much leaves '92 by process of elimination.

The best riding bike I ever owned, and I have owned quite a few, was my Allez Pro...

Bought it used with an assortment of not so special components. None the less, the bike, as fitted above was a treat to ride anytime. Sorry I sold it!

Hi Randyjawa, didn't you also own at on point a grey/yellow/pink Allez Pro? I think I recall seeing one on MyTenSpeeds. Besides mine, it's the only Allez Pro with this color scheme that I have ever seen. Maybe a Canadian edition, who knows.

haha! I wondered if there was something going on with that. Also, you got a good gangster lean going on. 6'2"? Yeah, you're good!

Enjoy the bike. That should be quite a bit faster than the Winny!

bte, that groupset with brifter for the rear derailleur and downtube shifter for the rear is Lance spec. ha

@jonny7...

If I did own such a bike, I can not remember. Forgive me for this as over 500 vintage road bikes have passed through my hands over the years. Perhaps you are thinking of this Fiori that came my way while yard sailing one day...

I almost grabbed a silver Allez Pro but the TriColor group was incomplete and I was not interested in an aluminium fork. That green one looks late 80s but never seen those lugs on an Allez.
