Mid-80s Fuji Sundance Mountain Bike

Appropriate sized vintage mountain bikes don't pop up very often, at least not in my neck of the woods. So when this 60 cm Fuji Sundance showed up locally, I scooped it up for the seller's asking price of $50. Japanese lugged steel (Fuji ChroMo 441), mid-fork rack mounts, 19" chainstays, & Nitto Bullmoose handlebars.
I believe this is a 1985 model, but the 85 Fuji catalog shows the Sundance equipped with a lugged fork crown. The 86 model was outfitted with a unicrown fork, but it had Suntour Rollercam brakes front & rear & no mid-fork mounts. I have some period correct Deore XT bits in the parts bin & think they may end up on the Fuji.

Good looking rig, looks like it would make an awesome touring monster. I like the roadish looking lugs. I have a couple similar era MTBs that lack lugs, I'm jealous.

I'd agree that the Sundance is a good solid bike. Mine is from the last year they were made (91) and I love the paint.
