Bridgestone Eurasia Restorations
Over the summer months I restored two Bridgestone Eurasia ES-1 "sportif" bikes that I had imported from Japan. The history of the Eurasia line is really interesting: in a nutshell, it was a Japan-only series of touring, randonneur, and road bikes made by Bridgestone and supported with dozens of cool matching accessories. It ran from 1976 to the early 1980s, when cycle touring fever was sweeping the world. The ES-1 sportifs were the most interesting offers in my opinion, with brazed-on direct mount centerpull brakes, internal dynamo wiring, and more. Here's a few photos and links to the articles I wrote. Which of the two builds do you like better?
