Upside down headset
Well this is a first.
I recently picked up an older Trek 520 that had been resprayed. In the original listing picture something didn't look right to me about the fork crown area but I couldn't tell what exactly. I inspected the bike (outside at night) and everything looked good so I went ahead with purchase. Now in the light of day I see it. The headset cups are both flipped? How do you even install it this way? Should be an easy fix but I definitely never expected to see this. At least I won't get dirt ingress from the road  https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8ef7d0141e.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d5db82e848.jpg |
Hmm, but wouldn’t the cups not actually be inserted in the head tube? Once you undo that top nut, chaos might ensue!

Did you make sure the chainrings weren't installed inside out?? Regardless, let's see the whole bike! |
Limited Technical Skills
The only kind of tool some people should be allowed to use:
Stone Age Hammer https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8d932b5e60.jpg Perhaps with some intensive occupational training: A Copper Maul https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8317761a75.jpg verktyg :50: |
I think this person just needs a bigger hammer, Chas.
