Angel Rodriguez womanís bike

Iím in possession of my ex-wifeís Rodriguez road bicycle and Iím trying to figure out what to do with it. Sheís had it for I would estimate 40 years and hasnít ridden in several years. She has Alzheimerís and is not likely to ever ride it again and my primary interest is to get it a good home. Even though Iím her ex I have power of attorney for her and like I said I just want to get it to someone who would appreciate the quality of a hand built bike. I live on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state.
Any suggestions?

Welcome! Sorry about your wife's condition. It's bad enough to have to give up cycling for any reason but Alzheimer's is much worse. You might Google "Rodriguez bicycle" to see what others might be selling for. A woman's frame would be special and might be worth more, or less if the demand is lower for such a thing (quite possible). Good luck with the sale and our best to your wife.

You could also contact R&E Cycles in Seattle and see what they would suggest.

To sell a bike in the classifieds on this site you must become a member.

I'm guessing you have a Rodriguez Stellar. There's a small write up on the R&E site about it. Dates to mid 90s, I think. Uses 650c wheels, although I substituted 26x1.5 running gear. I found my frameset at a junk shop in Parkland, after researching it I found it had been stolen from a Seattle garage 2 yrs earlier. My toptube is dented in mulitple places from where a jack had been used to break the lock. After contacting the owner, she'd long since claimed it on insurance and bought a new one.

I am sure it will be obvious to most people here I am not a gear head but I do appreciate the quality of the bike. Based on the history I know, I would date it in the late 70ís-early 80ís. I donít see any model name or serial number on it but itís a metallic powder blue color. Iíll inspect it a little more today and see if I can find something more to identify it with. Thanks

I've made arrangements with @fadman24 to have a look at the bike on Sunday afternoon. I've seen a pic of the bike. It is a small frame...could be on the order of a 51 to 53 cm (ctc) seat tube. The bike is very clean and appears to have been well cared for. Construction of the main frame appears to be a conventional diamond, not the Stellar model with a sloping top tube. My intent is to help the owner prepare text and photo(s) suitable for a sale listing. I will review his options for a local sale, Seattle Craigslist, eBay, and here on BF.

If I recall correctly, BF will not permit me to list this bike on behalf of the owner in the C&V Sales thread, but I can request input in the Whats it Worth? / Appraisal thread. Have I got this right???

I wouldn't mind looking at it, but don't have any spare time (literally). Not sure if I even have a day off at all next week. Lots of people out sick. I've been flirting with the 80-hour work week for about the last 11 months, it may actually happen next week.

I've read through the rules, didn't see any rules about listing on behalf of someone else?

Thanks for weighing in on this gugie. I too read through the rules yesterday and found nothing restricting me from making a listing for another BF member....'just storefronts. That said, I would have sworn I got busted for attempting to do this a few years ago. I'll learn where the OP wants to go with this when I meet him tomorrow afternoon. It appears he is not a rider, but he appreciates the bike, it's roots, and its history. I'll be happy if the bike can find a new home within the BF community.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"......way to go Tim!!! I was thinking about you a few days ago when I tackled the accumulation of snow in front of my neighborhood mail boxes.....'bought a new snow blower last fall. Another neighbor plows the street with an old Ford tractor. He does a great job with the equipment he has, but he leaves a sizable berm of snow/ice right in front of the mail boxes. Gads, what a mess!

@Dylansbob I met the OP yesterday afternoon and had a good look at the bike. While it is not a Rodriguez Stellar, you were spot on to suggest it might be. The top tube does slope to the rear. I measured the center of the seat tube lug to be 4 CM lower than the center of the head tube's top lug. 700c rims and early 80's components. The drive train could use a bit of cleaning. Overall, the bike is in great condition and would a nice find for a smaller rider that appreciates C&V. I'll start a new post in What's it Worth / Appraisal section later today.
