Maillard Freewheel Tool?
I'm looking for the freewheel tool for 24 spline Maillard freewheels, whicn measure about 30 mm inner diameter. Would anyone have one for sale, in good condition? There are a number for sale on Ebay, but the sellers all seem to be using teh same pictures - except for a worn-looking piece from Bicycle Reseach, they all seem to use the same new-part photos. I can't tell what the condition is, as a result.
Anybody have a spare one? |
Do yourself a favor and get that Bicycle Research tool ....it will not wear out
Bicycle research tools are superior to Park |
I’m over in the city of the straits. happy to remove in exchange for a coffee 😁

Bicycle research tools are superior to Park The others are confusingly mentioned to be BR, or VAR, or any of a few other ttop traditional brands, even predating Park's ecistence. I'm pretty sure that Park does not now make a match. But anyway, I have had good results with the Park removers I have.. If I found a Park which is well presented so I an see what it really is I'd probably go for it. That's why I'm appealing the a community of fellow fintage users. If there had been a BR in sound condition, I would have it flying to me already! |

Anybody have a spare one? As to why it's new, I presume, this particular seller has a license to manufacture them. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...55b9b70cdb.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e69567b55a.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...e8a689a1ef.jpg |
Thanks, that tool looks right and that's my freewheel!

I ordered this one a week or two ago (confirmed with the seller that it is 24 spline) and it works perfectly. It came with the new sale sticker still attached.

i don't need to remove anything yet. I'm going to build two wheelsets with Maillard freewheels, and I've never found I install the FW only once. Any case it's I tool I finally think I will need someday. But for the wheels, parts-cleaning day is probably tomorrow, bearing/axle build on Monday, and rim-washing on Tuesday. LBS is going to fit and cut spokes for the two wheelsets, and lace and finish the wheels. |

^^^^^ Not too different from the skyline when I was a kid (well, the Pontch was there, but the RenCen wasn't...).
BTW, it's "straits". Might've made more sense.... |
I was thinking Mackinaw. D has straights?
|
I can see why you would think Mackinaw.
D actually means “the strait” in French https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...57bd7483b.jpeg |

Oh yeah, and it's "strait" not "straight!" --- duh!

“ I wish I knew more about the Great Lakes in the War of 1812.”
Check out this documentary. Pretty interesting. The War of 1812 on the Great Lakes |
My father's side of the family came to Canada from England in 1812, to fight against the Americans. After the war, the Crown gave soldiers land in Canada, if they chose to stay. My ancestors got some land on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, between Lake Huron and the Georgian Bay.
