I would better clarify my message a little. It is not like I am a young buck myself - at 58 (in March), and that I do not see the point in adjusting for your age appropriate flexibility... But in this thread you asked for Formula 1. Not Formula Florida. ;-)

Very fast looking Red. That rear derailleur looks like it will accept a more useful freewheel range than 14-19. Are you setting the bike up to ride? The stem and seatpost don't look like they are ready to be ridden yet.

A question for the group….Would a pump,peg be excused on a racing bike if the builder took the care to leave and orient the Columbus tubing stamp on the head tube?

As I tried to say - it depends (age and for what use). Stem shifters are age appropriate at 78 and older (on a "Formula 1" bike - any other purpose - it sort of is OK already at 50.. ;-)

Yep that RD is a Sun Tour VX GT (only just discover it's the GT variant) so it will handle 34 !!!!
Currently got 14-28 instead of the original 14-19 because I'm over the hill and need some help.
The RD is probably original (right date code) but I've no idea why Holdsworth would have fitted a GT.

The Avanti only ever came in "pearl red", I really like the colour. It feels fast, even if I'm not (yet).
And the Tufo S33 Pro red is the cheapest tubular at Wiggle.

That photo is from 3 months back when I was adjusting the setup and getting back into cycling, and before I got some aluminium polish
I should take another photo but the weather is mostly gloomy and I ride on sunny days.
The stem is now a bit lower and I've adjusted the saddle a lot, weirdly I still like the Selle Italia Sprint - had one from new 40 years back.

And apologies for the eyelets, but the thread is rusty so they've probably never been used.

Superb Denti you have there - I love all the shaped/ribbed tubing, especially the indented seat tube. And, of course, the Columbus tubing stamp; a keeper for sure.

Well I was going to wait until this thread dropped another 2 positions but I might forget to come back!
This one is special as it was the purchase after the Le Camp was crumpled. It is on the small side but has several k of miles on it even with a saddle that is a bit too low. It had sew-ups on it taking me back a few years to late 60's and my Peugeot. Had to replace a couple of spokes, learning that the rear had a mix of DB and straight ga. on the DS. BF influenced me that this was one of the best bikes I could acquire. One day I was cruising CL and thought, " what the heck, do search on Colnago." Bingo!

My arm was still broken and, in a brace/sling. Called up a friend and we drove from Aloha (OR) to Hood River. I knew I had to have the bike, even though it was a bit on the small side. Priced reduced by $75 by giving up the pedals. There were at least 4 components that were mission from an all Super record group. @Drillium Dude provided two from his time in the Indian Ocean, pedals and a seat post. Later, I found a 7speed freewheel as an upgrade. Yellow Jersey provided NOS cables and housings along with the HB tape. This is as period correct as I could get it. Oh, the tires are the 3/50. The wheels at purchase were GL330 with Mavic 501 hubs. They were swapped for these which are small flange Record with Mavic GP4 and DB spokes. The RD is dated 83 so that is what I go with. The NDS DO is stamped with USA. Superissimo, for those that don't know, has chrome head lugs unlike the Super of the same era.

That is spectacular. It just doesn’t get better. I have had a lust affair for the Prestige shop Peugeots for decades. So, that should be a 1979. In my view, that may be the most desirable year as it represents the last year that a major racing team was equipped with centerpull brakes, and they did them quite right. The fact that it was Pascal Simon’s just puts it right over the top. Fabulous.

Thanks for that interesting bit of history; I simply thought the owner chose those due to personal preference. Your Prestige Peugeot example is a looker, too, with that fully-chromed rear triangle and fork. And the pump! Cool that the paint and graphics on it matches the frame.
