1973 Paramount, finally.
Two weeks ago at a swap meet I saw this Paramount for sale. I didn’t bring enough cash but made an offer anyhow. After he stopped laughing he said no. I walked around the rest of the day hoping no one would buy it and he’d change his mind. For two weeks I couldn’t get it out of my mind and searched the classifieds for it. I made an offer and made a 3 hour round trip today and just got it home. Looks really clean, but still needs a total service with new tires, cables and bar tape.

I have hoods and black cloth tape. I’m replacing the saddle with a Brooks and getting Panaracer Paselas. Then I’m going to ride it. I’ve owned and sold 2 Paramounts and have regretted it. I’ve been searching for a keeper for awhile.

Stripped the frame today, no surprises or problems. The chrome cleaned up like new. I’ll take all the parts to work Wednesday and spend all day cleaning and polishing. Has anyone found a touch up paint that’s close to Silver Mist?

Beautiful, and with the somewhat rare Campy Record triple. I believe that Merz used to make a smaller chainring (32T?) for the triple to replace that ridiculous 36T small chainring. Those are probably as rare as hens' teeth but I'm guessing that you could make one out of a different chainring (or just go with a Red Clover triplizer).

And you have to remember that Campy made the 36t when there were far less options, at least they made a specific DS crank arm for it.

Wow, cleaning up REALLY well - looks almost NOS! Love these Paramounts in silver, especially the years that have the world stripes on the seat tube rather than the Schwinn/Olympic decal.
