CIBA was better than pre-COVID, but buyers were looking for seriously stupid bargains. They carried the day, which does not bode well among sellers for next year. Example: Force 1x11 AXS crankset, excellent cond: $30 and the guy had to think about it. Litespeed Classic frame with Ritchey Carbon fork, tons of attention, no buyers. In January’s swap meet CO, it would have been snapped up. Tires at $2 sold, and a dealer blew out his Conti tubes at $5. Guerciotti stem garnered a $5 offer (declined) and a NR Rossin post got no interest over $50.
it was good to meet BF members there, and I found excellent bargains and rid myself of all spare wheels and posts and stems. I learned that used gravel anything is generally beat to death. I managed to cover my expenses and a couple-three Benjamin’s, but nothing like Brazen. The hit of the meet was an English/American bulldog mix that waddled throughout the swap and generally oozed ugly affability. I was sorely tempted to head up to Chicago and jjhabbs, get a room and hit the Chicago swap tomorrow, but I have nothing to sell and needed to quit while a bit ahead. |
Heading down to Westminster now.
Say hello if you see me. I am the tall goofy looking guy with black glasses and an ugly green sweatshirt. Jim |
Came down to a number of things, but I am unfortunately unable to get to Westminster. Was hoping to meet other members there, but there will be other times.
Hoping to hear if the Trexlertown swap is back this year. |
The Brooklyn (NY) Bike Jumble is scheduled for Saturday May 7th in Park Slope at 5th Ave and 4th Street.

Hoping to hear if the Trexlertown swap is back this year. Haven't heard anything about spring Velofest yet. The old bike swap at the firehouse next door is a go on the weekend of May 13-15 along with the Kutztown show which is about 15-20 minutes away. |

Did anyone go to the Seattle event yesterday? I was wondering how was the attendance, and were all the vendor spots filled. I would have gone but it just was not in the cards I was dealt.
|
I did really well as a vendor this year. Sold 7 of the 8 bikes I had and a bunch of small parts. I know a lot of people got deals, I just wanted to clear out some stock of small parts and accessories. There was a great energy there and people were very happy to be out. back to normal I hope.

Bumping this thread.
Trexlertown Velofest is tomorrow at the velodrome and I will be there. Hope to see a good turn out. |
Whittier Bicycle Swapmeet has been on the past 2 months but it's the same story. Very little promotion so it's the same buyers each month and it causes sellers to pretty much take the same inventory every time.
A few minutes of social media postings and this swap can be banging again. I don't offer to promote it since I'm off the grid when it comes to social media platforms. |
One in Springfield MO…
Next weekend. What interests me is the 2nd and 3rd floor of the bike museum across the street. A ton of “geared” bikes packed into several rooms.
I hope to liquidate a few of mine and then pursue a couple from the museum. |

There is one in Toronto next weekend. I am hoping to go check it out, but I won't have a table. Maybe I should have. I have a crap ton of wheels to get rid of.

BUMMER as the weather looks to be just awful, rain all day and plenty of it. Good luck to you B but rotten luck for the organizers and vendors.
I'm glad it's back, and thankful for those who set up. I spent about an hour there, got soaked, but scored some great stuff for my efforts. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...21f00c31eb.jpg |

Ever since the Cow Palace Bike Expo disappeared on us some years ago, it never have been the same here in the Bay Area for bike swap fans.
Never could figure out why they quit having it, I suspect it just cost too much to run/insure the event...... |
This weekend at Kutztown Campgrounds. Fun show in a quiet campground by a creek. They do one in the fall and one in the spring. This will be the fourth one. Mostly classics and antiques but a little bit of everything has been there in the past.

Bump... and this one is Free.
Just noticed this is a Sunday (when making hotel reservations).
I've got a double room on Saturday night... 3 miles away. No reservation required for the swap, folks set up early, swap starts officially at 7, folks are taking down by noon. There are coffee shops within a block of the Farmer's Market (swap meet area). Eclectic area on C-Street (Commercial) in Springfield, killer food, all independent. My pick will be a good Cuban restaurant at the end of the street. A whole 4-block walk. It's worth it just to see if you can get a peek into the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor above the Pedaler Museum (packed with upper end roadies, funny bikes, etc.)

Wish there were something out near Raleigh NC. I, too, don't even think we have a co-op nearby. |
