(HELP) Frameset identification Colnago

Hello, on this forum I always find an answer to my questions. For example, today, I have a question of identification for this bicycle frame. Comparing different models found on the net, the bike frame would be a Colnago Nuovo Mexico?! what do you think?

I'm not seeing the crimps/flutes in the tubes that are indicative of a Nuovo Mexico. Please confirm. The seat lug looks really strange. It looks flat on the top, except for a bit at the back, and not square with the seat tube, like sombebody took a hacksaw to it. An overall, drive side photo would be appreciated. If you have the the fork, photos of it would also be helpful.

My guess late '80s Super until more photos come. Too bad about about that seat lug, even if it somehow got bent, being dropped or something, that is pretty drastic.

Mine, too. No bosses on the seat tube.
Somebody got frustrated with a frozen seatpost, from the looks of it.

If the OP is planning on purchasing that frame, it's not worth the 550USD currently being asked for it on Ebay. Damage to the binder ears and seat tube from removing the stuck post.

if you're interested, $200 plus a beer https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Thanks,

p.s. Apparently you did. It can't be considered by anyone as a frameset ready to put parts on and make a bike. But for the enthusiast who could care for it, the result would be great, believe me! I don't have time to deal with it at the moment,

I'm not in the market as I already have one :)

You are the seller - or thinking of buying? I can't really tell for sure...

I'm the one who appreciates your every post. ( Yes, I am selling this frame )

Based on the investment cast chainstay bridge, in conjunction with the brazed-on front derailler hanger, I'd place it mid-1980s.

Ah, I understand now - okay :)

And $200 plus a beer sounds like a more realistic deal. Speaking only for myself, I'd pass because I just can't tell if the damage to the seat tube, being so close to the lug, could be rolled out. If not, perhaps a complete new seat tube would be in order - and the all-up cost begins to go up at that point. Having said that, it's surely a quality frame worth saving - the ride of these things is amazing :)

Hopefully you can find someone with the desire and ability to fix this and get it back on the road!

1983 Colnago Super Frame

It has all the hallmarks of a 1983 Colnago Super Frame as per http://www.velo-retro.com/colnagotline.html
Here's what it looked like at some point in it's life. These are the original eBay photos from when I bought this in 2006:
