Cino MMXXII - ready to roll and roll call!

Offilial hoops have been cleared and registration is ready to go live, March 13 at midnight! (Which I suppose is technically March 14th.)

Cino 2022 will happen July 8-10 in Kalispell, Montana.

If you haven't heard, this year we are adopting a theme: vintage mountain bikes. There's probably a can of worms waiting to be opened somewhere, but we're generally going with very similar rules (with a few exceptions). I'm just going to spitball some:
  • Pre-1987 (that's probably the can of worms, but at Cino, we consider these more like guidelines... and encourage bribery!)
  • Steel Bikes
  • Lugged
  • Friction shifting
  • Clips or flats (especially beartrap pedals)
  • Thumb shifters (definitely not rancid-fire)
  • Sooooooper long chain stays
  • Rust, scratches, dings, or any such evidence of gnar-shredding
  • Anything that goes Klunk or needs repacking after downhilling or has but a single speed.
I'm sure more can be devised, but that's a good start.

Click here for registration (it'll work once it's open). The ride continues to be a fundraiser for the Kalispell Montessori Elementary. Last year we put a new roof on the school. This year the procedes go toward student scholarship as we expand into middleschool!

I have a special guest tentatively lined up, we're in the process of organizing jerseys, and we'll have an auction item or two - more to come on that.

We had a fantastic time with so many BF members here, your word-of-mouth support is invaluable. Thanks to all who have participated and to all those who will join us this year. I have rounded up parent volunteers and intend to ride for the first time since I took over management of the event.

Hope to see you in July!
Cinodirector aka Mountaindave aka Mr. David Teacher Sir

I'm going to tag some people, please help me remember everyone's handle: @northbend, @gugie, @Choke, @ollo_ollo, @rccardr, @nlerner, @squirtdad, @scozim, @Roger M, @Drillium Dude, @Wildwood, etc...

Looking forward to it!

Thomas and I are 'tentatively' in(awaiting clearance from the tower). Had a great time last year on the tandem, but Looking forward to riding along side of my kid this time around.

Fwiw, Thomas is finishing up the auction prize from last year, and will be riding it in Montana in July.

Next year! (Two-year old son is still too young to make the drive reasonably and leave him with my wife for the day. He's terrific, but also a handful.)

I'm so in. I probably won't set my alarm for midnight Mountain Daylight Time, but I'll log in and register before I make coffee tomorrow morning.

After that I'll be pimping this ride till we hit the limit.

I have a bit of incentive for anyone registering that wants to build a period mtb. I have these three frames.

If Dave is OK with it, I would be glad to give up either of these three framesets. The only requirements are

You be registered for this year's Cino
You kick in a few extra bucks to the Montessori($10)
You be local to the Puget Sound area(or have someone that can pick it up)

First is a green Novara mtb. I am fairly certain that this is a re badged Diamondback Ridge Runner from 83-84. It's a solid piece, and would fit into the 'gnar shred' patina category. A quick tape measure to it got 18.75" and 23" for seat tube and top tube(c-c respectively)

Next, a little bit later grey/silver Diamondback Ridge Runner II. Similar condition, but a bit smaller(18" st & 22"tt c-c).

If any of you all have an interest in these, let me know.

And to Dave, if this isn't cool, say so and I'll delete the post. The two have headsets(& a rusty post on the green bike)but that's about it.

SR Explorer 20" st 22.25" tt

The first time I’ve seen this 'motocross' tubing decal.
