Evans Viscount Tire Availability?

Are tires and tubes generally available for this bike? A friend wants it, but I’m inclined to dissuade them if there’s no support. Thx in advance.

We'd have to know the actual size, but if it's the standard cruiser bike size, 559 ISO, they are widely available.

Tires should have the size molded in-
if fraction, stay with fractional dimensions.
if decimal, stick with that.
the two systems interchange on the chalkboard in math class.

Sheldon Brown has a good summary of tire sizes, and even measuring the rim if you don't know.
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html

There is an absolute mess of different sizes!!!

However, if it isn't a common size, then just about everything is available on the internet. E-Bay?

26x1 3/8 (590mm bead seat) is common and should be stocked by most bike shops, and even pops up in department stores. It is different from the 26" MTB tires (559mm bead seat), usually denoted with decimal points in measurements.

Based on the apparent age of the bicycle, I'm leaning towards 571mm BSD but as others have stated, check the designations on the sidewalls. There's a good probability that the tyres are old enough not to carry the new ISO designations.

I just shipped a pair of 571mm BSD tyres to someone in Winnipeg. They're still being made but since they're a low demand item they're hard to find right now, as the tyre companies are concentrating on the high demand sizes due to the impact of COVID-19 on their manufacturing.
