Vintage Legnano patina bike build...

Hi Guys, for all of us who love the patina of an original frame, here`s a video of me building up a `63 Legnano Gran Premio ready for L`eroica

***Please note - corrupt SD card left me without key chunks of footage so its a bit thrown together...***

Full ride video coming very soon, thanks, Dan.

39T wouldn't work on that 144mm BCD spider, anyway. 41T is the minimum (damn hard to find), so most of us use 42, as you have.

Good choice substituting an alloy crank for the original cottered steel.

Concur regarding KoolStop brake pads -- do not even consider anyone's OEM.

"And just check out the patina along here -- really, really beautiful."

Too bad more folks don't feel the same before painting their bikes.

As an owner of 3 Legnano's, all with original paint I say it is the right choice. Two of these were ridden in several L'Eroica events, Including:
74 Legnano Gran Premio, 2012 L'Eroica Italia long route, https://utahrandonneur.wordpress.com...io-completato/
62 Legnano Gran Premio, 2014 L'Eroica Britannia long route, 2015 and 2017 Eroica California long route. https://utahrandonneur.wordpress.com...o-gran-premio/
62 Legnano Roma Olympiad, project bike
Enjoy the bike and the ride!

Yeah, if during an ascent you barf on the top tube, it blends right in.

(disclaimer, I love Legnanos).

Dan Chase I watched the video and enjoyed it, thank you. I need one of those Legnano caps. Ive seen them on the Bay and Ill pick one up soon.

Does anyone know how the paint was layered to get the Lizard Green color? One of my bikes is silver with red exposed in some areas and I thought I read that those were 2 of the base coats to make the green pop.
