Restoration of vintage Asian bike
I just joined Bikeforums, thought you'd enjoy my restoration journey. Also, looking for any information to help identify age, origin, history, etc.
It's a single-speed bike with a rear drum brake and pretty amazing mechanism / linkage to operate it. Front brakes are equally strange, but I got them all working. The seat isn't original to the bike, but it could be swapped out with something more correct. Some badges show KOSYUYA. Many parts are stamped K or KRN. Stamped with "5700" on frame by seat post.

Thanx for bringing this here, we live for this and you have one of the finest examples resurrecting that I have seen.
Seeing the background, I'm assuming you are a very serious fabricator, great looking shop from what little I can see.

Wow. I agree amazing transformation. Please post more on the process. With all the rust, I can't even imagine how you were able to get it apart, let alone do the restoration.

Hard to believe they are the same bike. I, too, would love to hear details. Are any of the parts reproductions? I'm guessing you re-chromed those parts that aren't repros? Who did the paint?
