Daccordi Griffe a la Gugie and Phil Peugeot
Firstly, many thanks to everyone who had a hand in this...Swimmermike, Rusty James, Gugie, Phil Peugeot...
The odyssey started when Phil offered up this butchered/bodged Daccordi Griffe and a Miyata I think to someone who would give it new life.
After some coordination and encouragement from swimmermike and RustyJames and an offer to reverse damage by Gugie, I jumped at the opportunity to do something a bit different.
Shipping to Gugie, he checked it over and gave the assessment. Although the patient was in no immediate danger, there was an infection by crappy hacksawing...derailleur hanger, bottle bosses, chainstay boss, shifter bosses and a most screwed FD hanger. I opted out of the hanger (much to Gugie’s liking), and he checked alignment, healed the ailments and cleaned it up!
The bad news, the pain had suffered from the surgery. I received the bike today and MIGHT try to learn painting skills to try and match it (first). It is a beautiful metallic blue.

Beautiful details. Brake bridge is something special.

Panto and fins

Repaired bosses and the head tube fins...

Water bottle boss

And the former location of said FD hanger.

Work of art replacing the derailleur hanger

Head tube has river holes in an odd place

More panto

I think many of us just can't stand to see a nice vintage bike or frame needing some TLC to get it back on the road. A real team effort!

Oh! I saw that in the Atelier but didn't realize it was yours. That's a very cool frame! So many interesting details.
If you figure out a way to match metallic paint in patches that size, please share. I've had good luck with solids, but metallic paints foil me every time. I'd probably send that out to be powder coated.
On the other hand, I think Rust-Oleum makes a metallic blue paint (they call it cobalt) that's about that color. I think it's a bit lighter, but you might be able to blend it well enough to be passable from 10 feet away.
