I think it would be nice if Bushwhacker hosted another vintage steel show, and Motogeek and Russell could bring their sleek French beauties for everyone to enjoy!

Or, until then.... maybe Motogeek could post a few photos??

Robert organized that and now he works at the trek store. It would require someone stepping up. Maybe Anne, the new manager.

I'd love to attend a vintage bike show in Peoria. Earlier in the year I drove up to Chicago with two of my bikes to attend John (I forgot his last name ... JJHABBS) bike garage show. What a great experience.

Years ago when I lived in San Antonio there used to be monthly shows called Frankenbike where people would bring their surplus bike parts and offer them for sale. These were great opportunities to unload some of those parts many of us have sitting in dark corners or find some treasure from someone else's dark corners. Wish we had something like that here.

I'll try to take some current pics of the crop. I've got some older pics on my old dead computer but I can't get them transferred to my new laptop. I'll see what I can do.

Well done Russell, great price! Beats my Silver/black lugs GJ for $210 found a while ago. When I stripped it for overhaul, found prior owner had mounted a bottle cage by drilling 2 holes in the DT, then atttaching wih wood screws. Gugie brazed me someproper mounts, but it's been sitting since. Plan to mount a Porteur bar. Rode it some before the buy because it looked big, but with a lowered saddle and max ext. stem, it feltt pretty good. A lot like my Spotted PK10 Peugeot that also looks big, but is a favorite. I should measure them just for the record. Don

Don, I hope your feeling fine after the tumble on the trail. You take knocks better than a 40 year old. So did gugie say wood screws were bad? Lol. I use aluminum clamps when I want to add mounts. Also I have been riding bigger frames. This one is 24" to the top of the top tube. Plus I have lower gears than on my supercourse.

John Haboush (if I haven't butchered the spelling).
I had the pleasure of attending his first gathering and bike ride a few years back (probably 2019). It was a good time, got to see some familiar folks and new ones, as well as their cool bikes! John's collection is quite impressive, even when it was in his basement. I'm sure it's even better in the massive new man cave!

This forum does appreciate photos! Looking forward to getting a glimpse at the collection of the Motobecane Man of Morton!

If we're keeping score, I'm pretty sure I paid $175 edit: $170 (looked it up) for the GJ mixte. Could've sold the drivetrain for more than that.

IIRC I paid $150 for the '75 GJ mixte from someone in Wisconsin. Ended up sending it to Gugie for some fork straightening.

I think the most I ever spent on a Moto was around $450 for a mint '75 silver/black GR from a guy in Chicago. This bike is beautiful with all the correct catalog components, including what I suspect are the original Michelin Elans, probably not too safe to ride on.

I finally got some pics made of my 7 Motobecanes and posted them on the "c'mon ... show us your Motobecane" thread. Didn't want to put them here cause I didn't want to hijack Russell's thread. Hope you enjoy them.
