Unknown GT Road Bike
Hi, I'm new to these forums having returned to cycling after many years away. I still have the first real bike I ever bought. Well. . . . it was a "real" to me. A 1984 Fuji Sagres. Love it. And, I have an early 70s Nishiki Olympic.
The bike I need help with is what I think is an entry-level GT road bike that I bought at a store closing in the early 2000s. I put it in the basement intending to give it to my son, and it was forgotten. Still in very good shape since it was never really rode. Now, I'm cleaning up and intend to put some miles on it, but I have no clue what I have on my hands. I cannot find a model badge on it anywhere, and I cannot find a source to decode the serial number.
On the bottom of the bike there are two numbers:
A. 0701
B: F96060026
Not looking for valuation because I suspect it probably isn't much, and I don't intend on parting with it. But, if I could be sure of what I actually have then researching and finding any replacement parts (if necessary) would be a whole lot easier.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums. Based on the serial number, your bicycle was manufactured during 1996. Since the bicycle has not been modified, we should be able to determine the model based on the brand and models of the major components (derailleurs, crankset, brakes). Alternately, you could post a good, drive side photo. The forum will warn you that you require 10 posts before posting photos, but if you ignore the warning they will upload to gallery album under you forum name, where members can view them.

I did finally find it. It is a GT Rave. It was built in '96 as pointed out above, but I think it was officially a '97 model.
Thanks for the help given. I'm looking forward to learning from this forum.
