New Bike Day!

Found this one languishing on FBM about two hours north of me. After a handful of price drops, I decided it was time to make the journey and snag this ‘88 Panasonic DX-5000. I’ve hoped to add a Tange Prestige-tubed ride to the collection. Always knew the DX-5000 to be a Champion 1 bike but from what I can sort out, Panasonic built it with Prestige for one year in 1988. She’s not much to look at now but should make a fun winter project.

I don't know much at all about Panasonic bikes, but that is a great score and looks great already!

plonz,
You are a bit too hard with your appraisal of your new acquisition, I think it looks great...those splashes of color really set off the frame color.
Best, Ben

Very nice. I only ever saw “bread n butter” Panasonics when I was in the business.

I like the graphics. I think you need to find a catalog and try to get closer to the original bar and cable colors, and tan sidewall tires!
