Something like this, but different. After I published it, Neal found a place in Lake Samish rather than go up to Bellingham, and we rode some rural roads before the bridge on 20 vs staying on it as Matt detailed earlier. We also stayed on 20 awhile past Deception Pass and ate at the Shrimp Shack. Those are the major differences I remembered from the published route.

Interesting (to me) that you guys passed to within 1/4 mile of two of my previous WA residences. Once when y'all passed Bothell while on the Sammamish River Trail, and again when you guys were at Dean's Sports Plus on Whidbey Island.

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves, but I put up with enough forced discomfort in the 26 years I was serving Uncle Sam, and I'd have been setting out the cheese plates/beer rather than going out for a soaking in 50 degree temps. I like my comfort these days, so if y'all want to do this next year, only a couple/three weeks earlier, I'd be up for that. And if it rains then, I'll cut up the cheese and keep the beer cold anyways.

Sometimes I just randomly aim and snap my camera while riding, and I'll get a good one.

Closing out this thread with a final photo now that we’re all returned to our respective homes. Yesterday I biked to Vancouver’s Amtrak station, caught the train to Seattle, where @northbend toted me to my hotel, and then left very early this morning for my flight back to Boston. The station in Vancouver is certainly C&V charming, perhaps a bit on the beausage side of things and not nearly as grand as the various Union Stations in the US.

Nice photo. Yes, the old CN station is pretty cool. I remember chugging out of there in 1966 as a kid, got a ride along with my neighbour, who was a conductor. He said we were 'looking for hobos' on that trip. I guess the 'bike hobos' were in evidence.

Hah! I had 7 minutes during the last session on the last day of the conference. I probably only used 5 of those, plus my fear of having more panelists than audience members was not founded. Win-win!
