Chombi, I took the rear wheel off my '84 Colnago Mexico with an IRD 7-speed freewheel, and there was no interference with the dropout. I was able to shift through all 7 gears when installed on the PY-10FC frame. I took photos with the 7-speed and 6-speed wheels in place. I think there is enough room on the Maillard 700 hub for me to try a 7 speed. Stay tuned!

7-speed IRD freewheel

Interesting....
So it could be the spacing on the Sachs/Maillard 7 speed FW that's causing my fit problem.
I would have thought it would work as I think the the Sachs/Maillard 7 speed was supposedly spaced for a narrow chain.
I'll have to double check and see if maybe I did not remember what I did and was maybe trying to fit in an older 7 speed Maillard FW on the bike.....
It could also be the Stronglight Delta rear hub's dimensions that could be causing it?

Ride Number 2

I was able to take the PY-10FC for a 30 mile ride this afternoon, and the ride quality is similar to my steel bikes. The bike is light, quiet, and smooth. Sometimes a bike doesn't live up to one's expectations, but so far so good. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and I will be able to put some more miles on it.

Simplex LJ4000 CP/SP

In the quest to build an accurate team replica, I would love to find one of these SLJ4000 CP/SP, but I'm not holding my breath!
The SLJ 5500 i have on the bike shifts great.

That's why I was recently thinking of doing my own drillium on the LJ4000 I already have.. currently installed on my 84 Gitane TdF
As I suspect actually finding one of the team issued, drilled version will be a gigantic challenge..

My PY10 FC also rides spooky quiet. Pretty much the quietest riding bike I have.
It's so silent and smooth that it almost dissappears from under you.
It is one of the traits thst sets it apart from all my other bikes.
