I believe Wes had disengaged with Eroica California organizational duties since 2018. I was under the impression he later moved to Japan to care for an elderly relative. I don't know if he still lives in Paso Robles/Atascadero area or retains his farm and horses. I do hope he's at the 2023 event, he's a good guy.

Darn good idea and glad you checked and also let us know. Its quite possible emails can be missed or mis-spam filtered. Hope everyone who did go in 2020 or 2022 could take this early offer.

Do I pay the $90 now and risk losing it when they decide there aren't enough riders returning, or do I wait unit August and pay an additional $60 if it looks like they are going to actually hold the event?
Brent
Yes, that's quite a conundrum. My sense is they do seem to be "committed" to trying to hold the event, and I'm happy they decided to move it to September to give them ample time to get prepared, organized, and hopefully establish a delegated US-based group to help with logistics and preparations. There have been rumors of folks (like me) wanting to be involved and helping if allowed, accepted, and able by the Italian organizers. We'll see. Plus with this much time, I think plenty of registrations will come in, both Nova (no conflict with Belgian Waffle Ride in San Marcos) and Classic, plus maybe a bunch more time for the pandemic to ease off and allow more domestic and international folks to come.

I'd be willing to spot you half of the super early bird fee if that makes it easier. You could always buy me lunch or something at the swap meet if the event happens!

Bart

I will not ride the 2023 Eroica CA, but do plan on volunteering. I will camp and Hearst San Simeon like I have done for the last few years. The current ride plan is to stay after the festivities and ride for two maybe three days on various routes. Hope the organizers take full advantage of the 2023 opportunity to get it right and re-establish their/its reputation.

Anybody tried to register today 10/27/2022? I'm not successful. The early bird option is no longer there, the combo is shaded out. May be under maintenance..... Will try later.

Their email said we have until 11/7/2022 - Hopefully just a website maintenance issue. I'm still waiting for them to update the website with the latest ""Last Edition" montage.

I saw a series of number when i opened the registration. Copied it and pasted in the coupon field but didn't work. I may write up a step by step once i figure it out. But if you have the decoder ring, please share.

Thanks

I'm sure you thought of this but copy and paste may not jive, maybe enter the code manually?

To be perfectly clear, there is no reason why they cannot start organizing next year's event the day after this year's event. There is no rule saying you have to start January 1. If in the last 7 years they haven't started organizing until it was "too late", what exactly makes you think it will be any different than previous years?

I have heard from this forum and others that people would be happy to volunteer to make a better event. Have the organizers made anything of that offer? Have the organizers made any tangible change, other than the date, that you can point to?

Did they not even give you credit towards a subsequent event, like the 2023 event?

If not, I would ask for it, in no uncertain terms. If not, I think that is considered theft.

That's very generous of you Bart. If the event actually happens and I end up going I would be honored to buy you lunch anyway.

To be clear they did offer credit towards the 2022 event.

I doubt the change from spring to fall had anything to do with increasing time to plan. I probably had to do with scheduling staff and maybe giving the east coasters time to train

For some reason I didn't receive the email about Eroica CA 2023, even though I continue to get emails regarding other Eroica events around the globe.
Trying to register on the MyEroica site and I'm held up by "Coupon Code" that I don't have. Was it in the email (that I didn't get)? Anyone care to post the code?

Kind of frustrating that I can't seem to register when I'm looking at the header photo on the site and it is a photo of me at an Eroica from a few years before.

That's pretty cool. Do you mean the photo with 4/5 riders in it, under the Ride tab - or a different tab?

No, it's a shot of me from behind - red jersey #197, light blue Serotta. One of the three shots that rotate thru at the top of the page. Taken the first year I attended, I think 2017.

Thanks for the notice on Eroica Cal. I am actually going to register for Eroica Britannia, and hope that it is not cancelled like this year. What I'll probably do is register for both, in case Britannia doesn't happen.

I'm in. I'll poach the NOVA and ride the vintage. I'm planning to do Gaiole again in 2023, and this will be a good training ride for that.

The weather could be classic Central Coast - foggy and cold when we roll out, hot as can be when we hit Paso.

It will be fun - great crew of people, scenery and roads.
