C&V brake levers with integrated QR: Weinmann, any others?
I usually search before asking questions, honest, but this seems doomed to a long search. Who else, other than Weinmann, offered brake levers with a QR at the lever itself? Dia-Compe, I would guess?
I have modern Tektro levers on the Bianchi and combined with the QR at the calipers I can easily pass a 30mm tire between the opened brake pads. Turns out 30mm is too tight under the fork, but I'd like to use those tires on the Lotus which has loads of frame clearance. Components are 600 Arabesque, though, and heck those brakes really don't open much. (Or do much in the way of braking, but that's another story.)
The '86 Bianchi is just modern enough that Tektro aero levers don't look out of place but I wouldn't like them on the '81 Lotus. I have Weinmann QR levers on the Dawes, they're OK and plentiful if not exactly glamorous, just want to know what else might be out there.

Hey, found one option that's still available new, go figure Dia-Compe 204 QR
Can't picture how the QR mechanism works on these. The price is certainly attractive.

You just flip the little tab piece on the front of the lever. That allows the lever to open wider to get the wheel out.

Also looks like it might get in the way of squeezing from above, in the hoods. How do they feel?

juvela goodness, that's quite the encyclopedia, thanks! Most are a good deal too old for 1981, I suppose, but I shall ponder the options.

Shimano Santé and some Exage groups had a quick release button on the medial side of the levers.

^^^^^^ I think the OP was specifically looking for non-aero. In any event, those self-resetting levers like the Exage/Santé have one disadvantage -- the release can't be used to adjust/compensate for an in-service out-of-true wheel (e.g. broken spoke). At least the modern Tektros have a "toggle" action.

I don't really notice them while riding on the hoods. There is just a little bump from the rivet.

In addition to the Dia Compe 204 levers, they make the 202 as well. It retains the original Weinmann style QR that slides up to open and automatically re-sets when squeezed.

^^^Those look like just the ticket, basically a Weinmann copy but new off the shelf and with fresh hoods. Works out to $50 plus shipping though. Classy website, they even carry Ghisallo wooden rims
