I have a 1923 Model T that was “restored” ~40 years ago and they had the brilliant idea of putting open-cell foam in the doors. I can’t think of a single good reason why this was done unless it was some vague notion of quieting rattles which is a bit of a joke since these cars rattle and shake like a paint mixer. The foam absorbed moisture and now the bottom of the doors are very rotted. Super.
