Who has multiple bike collections?

My lunch today came with fortune which seems to hint that I could begin an entirely new bike collection. To add to the intrigue, the back of this fortune has a lottery ticket number sequence, presumably to fund the new collection. I think my new collection will focus on boutique Italians.

Maybe this is a new way to explain things to my wife. "I've only got five bikes in my French bike collection.... What? My Italian bike collection? Um... What do you want to have for dinner?"

My collection if you can call it that consists of 5 or 6 rideable bikes and a hoard of spare parts.
The newest of the bunch has dropped recently in age from mid 2000s down to late 1980s. I do not miss the newer bikes. Wanting to eventually find some nice rides from the 70s.

I own at least 80 bikes, I stopped counting after 50 and a proverb says, when you love you don't count I own some Peugeots and especially some Peugeot mountain bikes from the 80's but also some Gitanes and especially I have a weakness for the motobecanes still before 1980

I must have got the fortune by mistake. It appears to be transferable, although I already ate the cookie. Will have to be extra diligent to stay in N-1 mode.

The correct number is N+1 = S-1

Buy 2 bikes, get a spouse! Hmmm. Might not be a good deal if you already have S.
I think 2S = N-N

I have bikes in Arizona and in Ohio. I guess that counts.

I do my best to take good care of the spouse. If she divorced me she might try to take the bikes.

on the topic.

I bought and built up a nice comfortable, lightweight carbon fiber bike for my spouse who has taken to ride quite a lot in the past few years. Probably as many times per week as me, maybe not as long or far, but a lot. I thought she deserved a very nice bike and since she's small, a reasonably light one.

Therefore, didn't expend any points for the 96 Litespeed F&F I bought for myself the same summer. How to render into mathematical notation when N+1 does not change S-1 if N+1=S-1? Maybe N+1 <= S-1? I do know that my N will always > her N. That's a given. Unless I pre-decease her. I think we can all agree that N+1 is a universal truth, while S-1 is unknown. Haven't studied math in 45 years so I'm really getting into the weeds here.

Then, since she needed a better fitting decent all-arounder (AKA "gravel") bike for our traveling, in and out of the pickup bed constantly, with wide-ish versatile tires for all around rail-trail, dirt path, and pavement use, and since we had stimulus checks and by-god "if not now, when" attitude at my age, I bought a nice titanium F&F to build up for her, and of course one for myself. In the mean time I sold her ill-fitting cross-turned-gravel bike and gave mine of the same genre to my son-in-law who is a MTB and fat bike enthusiast.

I KNOW there's mathematicians lurking herein, please chime in.

A new collection is fine, but you need a new home and wife to go with them.

Hey, I DO have two collections, there's the ones like the 25" Fuji that I can't lift a leg over to ride that are sentenced to the garage, and the one's I do ride are in the back bedroom/personal bicycle service area. (heretofore known as the pbsa)
So usable and unusable.

I've been distributing my collection to family and friends. Then it occurred to me what kind it is...

I have two collections

Bikes in the garage , including those I am working on for the Bike exchange, the bike I am currently riding( a 45 lb trek 800 with lots of "accessories"), 2 electric bikes , one of which I take to Burning man and the other that is just sitting there waiting for me to finally figure out why it is all wobbly when I ride it, a nice touring bike that I would ride if it weren't hanging on a hook with flat tires, a pretty rare Phillippe which is too good for the likes of me, and an old Peugeot which I used to ride a lot.

My other collection is all the pictures and stories of the hundred or so bikes I have restored for sale by the Bike Exchange , ranging from Schwinn Stingrays to Daimler Vent Noirs and just about everything in between.
Life is good.
