Strawberry PSA
Strawberry PSA
A bit rough and pathetic but solid, sound and straight. 58cm, if you know what they are, you know how scarce they are PM for more info, not mine and not affiliated. Happy to facilitate. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/02...g?v=1595025681 |
interesting there is eyelets in the back and rack mounts but none on the front.
Shouldn't this be in the sales thread? |

Not Andy
Ha. I actually emailed back and forth with Andy from Strawberry about this bike. An employee of Strawberry built the frame 30 years ago. Not built by Andy but still very nice.

And back in the beginning until he went to work with Jim, most all the early ones were built by DiNucci, Andy was the production guy and Mark was the passion guy. ;) Andy certainly leaned in later, came up with many of his own trademarks and built plenty of fantastic bikes along the way. Still upright and on the ground after 50 years, not sure if you could get him to build a frame though. :foo: |
Andy said he believed this one was built by a fellow named Robert for himself, "so not technically a Strawberry". he went on to say some nice things, mentioned that he had a 54x56.5 Strawberry on hand. Then we had a discussion about Flamenco.

This was at Bob Freemans show, this guy worked for Andy and built his own as many did. Updated paint and stunning. This guy talked about a Robert that I was going reach out to but didn't get around to. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...338119087b.jpg I also have a bike that Micheal Bornstien from Ames Iowa built at Andy's while he worked there, no pics handy atmo. :twitchy: |

I'm confused. Is there a link, or are you serving as the private broker on this one?
|
What is the frame geometry, or what kind of frame is this - road race, touring, generic,...?

Lets say probably road, maybe a bit touring. As we know, vintage road frames are touring frames now so..... Also this is reported to be an in house build so maybe even harder to say. |

I'm glad it is too small for me, but seems like a good deal at the original price. Some stuff seems to go a long time without selling there, when it should do well. I recall a Waterford tourer with SON dynamo lighting lingering there as well, then eventually selling for a rock-bottom price. I was very tempted to buy that, and I probably should have, but it overlapped with bikes I already have. Of course, I think that was just before the Covid prices skyrocketing.
I got 3 of the Merz's there, the first two were probably top dollar at the time, no matter to me whatsoever, done. One had been Jim's, the other was complete, original, both fantastic and both phenomenal finds to me, would have gladly paid more. The 3rd is a frame that the price dropped to half so I got it too, glad I waited. :twitchy: |

Yeah, I agree, price is good/ok, especially if you view it through the lens of "find another for sale at all?".
