What a collection!!!!

I stopped in Pasadena’s Velo shop

yes, your neck will hurt looking up at all the Colnago, etc.

but if you ask nicely, and/or bring a 6 pack for the staff to enjoy post shift, they might walk you across the street to see the “collection”

it’s all too much.

Yeah, more like 'not enough' !

What I want to know is do they have that unicorn kickstand?

roadcrankr 12-23-22 04:44 PM

Hrach runs a solid shop. Well-stocked and orderly. I bought a couple framesets from Velo Pasadena thru the years.
They sell plenty of high-end bikes to wealthy and famous clientele. Heard about some going for big bucks.
Hrach rides regularly and at a fast clip. I reckon a 50 or 51 suits him, so those large bikes came from parts unknown.

Robvolz 12-23-22 04:50 PM

I was more busy fondling, gawking, and in awe to fully take pics.

hundreds of vintage jerseys
50 colnago including never seen in person colnago tandem

all the other Italians, 20 different Bianchi, etc.

glass cases of campy, every iteration.

You know, if I'm not seeing Shimano, it's not a proper collection. Also, straight forks--must have been taken off a bunch of All City fixie frames. Bet they ride like a chuckwagon..

Unicorns need kickstands?

Mr. 66 12-23-22 09:05 PM

If that's a shop I would call them a selection, not a collection.

We visited a few months ago. Amazing collection and Hrach is a great bloke. This is just what he displays, he has way more in parts.

they had all the brands, Edco, etc. I just don’t get as excited for shimano, but he has the complete timeline.

and while There are some things in the museum that are a part of his personal collection and not for sale, I’d say 90% of the things there he would sell, and For quite reasonably in my opinion

I'm an Aussie and we were chatting near the jerseys, Hrach says 'oh Cadel Evans is an Aussie', looks through the jerseys and pulls out a personally signed Cadel Evans World Champion jersey.

I was just razzin' ya. ;) Lotta lovely bikes that are waaaaaay too small for me to ride (bummer!). Glad they're not in a dumpster or improperly stored. And that they're actually able to be purchased if the price is right. Campagnolo has the history, and the Shimano/Suntour duo were 'late' to the party, and even then it's well into the '80s before I start wanting them for my own bikes and the way I use them. I am of my generation (Y), but am more and more interested in another Campagnolo build, albeit with retrofriction shifters and a NR double-made-usable-triple (T.A. Specialites or similar), Just need a 65-67cm frame not named Paramount as I've had a few, and while virtuous, need either more height or less top tube length...or a whippier ride.

Just so happens I will be in the 'hood over the Holidays, so will swing by for a check in. I did not know there was anything "across the street"!
Was his the shop that had a "smash-n-grab" burglary a couple years ago? Or was that "the other shop in Pas" (maybe on Walnut? not the one-man neighborhood place in Altadena off of Lake). I thought it involved thievery of a late-model (CF) Pinarello or some such...

Bad Lag 12-24-22 02:15 PM

Are those photos of product for retail sale or are they part of a "collection" (as in museum, display only, not for sale)?

Is there a web site with a list of what's for sale?

See post #12. ;)

Bad Lag 12-25-22 12:06 PM

I saw that post. The shop has a web site, too.

What's missing is a list of which are and which are not for sale.

The web site does not have ANY info on the availability of these bikes. It doesn't show them as for sale, list what they are or show prices. As such, it seems more of a collection than inventory for sale. If he wants to sell them, he should remedy on that.

Robvolz 12-25-22 12:45 PM

none of us work there.

like I said. Its a personal collection.

but,

he would sell most anything. Its up to him and the amount you come to an agreement.

and in person.

Miss the Bicycle Odyssey....

tmnguuyen 12-25-22 08:42 PM

That Green one is sweet. I'm going to see if i can raise some coins to get it if it is for sale. The blue one next to it has a tag and it appears that one may be for sale.

Don't know what changes were made after Mike Barry passed, but Bicycle Specialties in Toronto had a hundred or so vintage bicycles hanging from the ceilings when I visited about 16 years ago.
