Whoops, sent pictures without text. The Mercian was refinished about 1985 at Cyclery North, Chicago. I liked the look so much I had my Waterford done in the same style. Bill

It seems to be a West coast favorite, my Gordon and several other lefties wear it.

Here is my favorite wet repaint [Flickr album here], though I have two others (simpler, but technically equal) done by my favorite local shop:

To my embarrassment, still hanging up waiting to be built; I look at it (with some regret) almost every day.

I know most of these are professional paint or powder coat jobs, but I was happy with how my Fuji came out using spray cans. If I do another one, I'll lay on the clear a little heavier and let it cure over the winter. It still looks good after two summers of riding.

This is probably the best I have or at least my favorite. It is a powder job that isn't perfect but pops for me. I regret not having a coat of clear over the decals as the powder is a little dull in places.

I may do a riff on |this for a Mexico frame waiting after a Grandis is done. Really not sure what to do about the Grandis.

There's this color, it's a dark/brownish/black with pearl that McDonalds has custom mixed for their light poles. without being clear coated it's ok but dull, but when clear coated it is an amazingly beautiful color. Considering having my Schwinn Torpedo f/f done in that.
Picture will follow if I do.

The '84 Eddy Merckx Pro SLX done for me by Jack Trumbull at Franklin Frames in 2019. Full re-chrome and respray. Fine pearl reflects in the sunlight. It's stunning.
