Never rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing dismay you
Remember all our purpose here
Bikes waiting in our queues
We save them from the scrappers torch
When people throw them out
Oh someone chucked a Rene Herse
Rene Herse,
Oh pity the chucked Rene Herse

In backyard shops, across the globe
Vintage steel being reborn
Polished to perfection
Replacing parts that have since worn
We stand back in reflection
Wow, look at the bike porn
Oh, never to be curb fodder
Curb fodder
On Flickr goes the former curb fodder

Fear not then folks of C&V
The future's well in hand
All of us are saviors
Of our bicycles most grand
Hold your tools of bike repair
And sing along with me
Oh Pastor Bob, he saved a Raleigh Sports
Raleigh Sports
Pastor Bob, he saved a Raleigh Sports.

Pastor Bob saved a trashed Raleigh Sports.
Change "you" to "youse" in the second line, and it'll be even more perfect. (All that was missing was one groan-inducing rhyme.)

Well, you did save it, after all

Hard to believe this all happened 16 years ago. She's still in good company too, as you know

I need to dig through my old photos and see if I can find the picture I took when I found it at the dump. Of course that was all pre-smart phone era. How old were you when I sent it to you from NH?

I remember that photo, I think you've reposted it here a few times. BF search is impossible though, and Google's indexing of BF even worse; they don't index the archives anymore (making a LOT of valuable information less accessible today than it was a decade ago ). I was probably 18ish at the time.

No longer around. Learned carburetors the hard way on that car when I was younger (thank you, zinc rot for making my learning experience 10 times more difficult). Probably wouldn't bother with one again unless I could change out the smogger 400.

Currently have a '68 Plymouth Satellite 4-door and a '71 Mustang - the basic ingredients for any mid-1970's car chase film.

I'm hunting for a Rover P6 at the moment, because I'm weird.

This is just weird. Not only can I not see embedded videos, it seems I can't even see the links! I cleaned out my BF cookie cache, and it did nothing. I don't think it's Firefox, because I can see embedded videos on other sites.

Wow. Period-correct plates for both, including the "official" government entity plate for what was once a standard issue government car, at least in California.

Yes, I find stuff like that cool and yes, I know I'm weird.

225 or a 318? Love that generation of Plymouth styling (Dodge, too, of course). Still trying to wrangle a '69+ Imperial / C-Body fuselage-era Mopar in some color other than Faded Pea Soup Green. Or a late-'60s DeVille (sedan only--better roofline/"C" pillar).

It's there for folks like us who fly on the same wavelengths of weird.

It's a rough clone of this unmarked survivor LAPD '68 Belvedere (notice the Satellite trim is missing). Pic from https://copcardotcom.fotki.com/contr...-2.html#media:

Also has the correct rims on it now, not the green Fury/Diplomat police rims.

Factory 318 car with a 1989 360 in it and a fair amount of bondo from the PO, good daily beater. Video of the swap here - story starts at 8:34:

Valiants are cool. My dad had a 64 many years ago with the 225 slant 6, great engine. I would love to have a 62 Valiant, 2 dr, 4 dr, wagon any one of them.

Kurt, our first car when we were married back in 1980, was a '76 Valiant, copper color, 4-door, with a vinyl top.

Love the video of your project.
