I talked to the manager regularly and there is big concern about modern bikes with hidden cabling. It takes quite a while to get comfortable working on and has no benefit for the average rider. They also don't care for irregular seatposts. They are happy to sell you a new bike but some of the modern stuff is beginning to bother at least this retailer.

If there's anything resembling a "chick magnet" in C&V it's chrome bikes. My Mk. I gets comments any time it's around people, aficionados or not.

I wondered if the tech-fetish would start to get old at a shop that actually needs to service and repair bikes. Beyond the new tools every few years they now need to consider electronics. No wonder they would rather sell you a new bike vs software updates on a 7 y/o bike.

Fortunately I personally am chick repellent. Otherwise my bikes would be causing lots of trouble.

I took it on a short spin around the shopping center parking lot and it rides almost exactly like my le champion. Of course both are running 35s. I'm sure on a longer ride I would find differences but it is an excellent bike.

I live in Bloomington, 35, miles away, but get over to Peoria often to call on customers, including Preckshot Pharmacy which just HAPPENS to be right next to Bushwhacker. I always have to stop in to see what's new when I'm there; I'll have to look up Aaron, say hello, and ask him to join us on Steve In Peoria's Tanner's Orchard Vintage Ride this fall. With any luck, I might have a 1986 Paramount to bring with me this year!

Congrats !I've had a lot of really nice bikes, but my Paramounts remain my favorites.The only bike I led a criterium on.
Only had 1 chrome one .It was too big for me, but such a great deal I had to buy it. Passed it on to a friend as a B-day present. He restored old Porsches. He understood. Here's my latest one as purchased.

It happened just before I found the bike for him. He's walking now with a cane and occasionally a knee scooter but it looks like a good recovery is on the way. He has gently ridden the bike too. On the upside he's loaded with titanium now.
